Nora Springs-based Omnitel Communications wants to expand its broadband fiber capabilities in Charles City.

The company has asked the City for comprehensive right of way access to increase their presence, which City Administrator Steve Diers says will still be limited in scope.

Diers says granting the extensive right of way access Omnitel is requesting requires more study.

The issue was discussed further during a Council workshop session this week and is expected to be addressed again in the City Council meeting on March 21st.

Diers has said that the City also continues to explore options for a City-run broadband network.
