Cliff Electronics has announced a waterproof cable assembly with a non-reversible 2 pole plug with a current rating of 5A.

Manufactured by Cliff in Surrey using an in-house three shot injection moulding process, Cliffcon 68 is an IP68 screw down ferrule connector supplied with 5m of cable terminated with tinned bare ends for connection to customer equipment. There is a mating panel socket for panels up to 3.5mm thick.

“We have been supplying over-moulded cables, connectors and probes to electrical test equipment OEMs for many years,” said Cliff MD John Hall. “This new waterproof cable assembly extends our capability and offers equipment designers a simple solution to sourcing a waterproof connection to their products. No longer do they have to source a suitable plug and socket and make a reliable waterproof connection.”

Connectors are rated for >500 connect-disconnect cycles.

The connectors are also available for self-assembly, and includes versions with 2-9 (except 8) contacts rated at between 13 and 3A. Cables from 5-8mm can be accommodated.

Applications are expected in agricultural and construction vehicles and machinery, as well as motorway lighting, exterior wireless networking, security camera systems, exercise equipment, portable instrumentation, battery charging and sensor networks.

Cliff test lead sets are manufactured in their own ISO 9001 certified factories and exceed all relevant safety specifications, such as EN 61010-1, are CE Marked and RoHS compliant.
